WHAT SHADE ARE YOU? - Carolina Oneto

Me presento: Soy Carolina, Chilena, Ingeniero, mamá de 3 y hace ya 7 años Quiltera.

Vivo en Santiago de Chile, donde tengo mi Estudio, y en el cual todas las semanas enseño patchwork a mis alumnas. También cada 15 días doy workshops en la Academia de Janome Chile.

Let me introduce myself: I am Carolina, Chilean, Engineer, mother of 3 and for 7 years now, Quilter.

I live in Santiago de Chile, where I have my Studio, where every week I teach this beautiful Craft to my students. Also every 15 days I do workshops in the Janome Academy in Chile.

Comenzar un Quilt nuevo siempre es un desafío y una gran aventura para mí y desde el momento en que tuve la invitación al bloghop de RJRFabrics “What shade are you”, para participar en este proyecto, las ideas comenzaron a surgir en mi cabeza.

Starting a new Quilt is always a challenge and a great adventure for me, and from the moment I had the invitation to the bloghop of RJRFabrics “What shade are you”, to participate in this project, the ideas began to take shape in my head.

A pesar de la distancia, rápidamente llegó la carta de colores de RJR, y aquí tuve que tomar la primera decisión y una de las principales a la hora de crear, escoger las tonalidades que quería usar en mi proyecto, pero fue muy difícil por la gran variedad y los maravillosos colores que pusieron a mi disposición, los habría usado todos!!!!. Una vez realizada mi selección las telas tampoco tardaron en llegar!

Despite the distance, the RJR color card quickly arrived, and here I had to make the first decision and one of the main ones when it came to creating, choosing the shades to be used, and a very difficult time due to the great variety and the wonderful colors that they put at my disposal, I would have used them all !!!! Once my selection was made, the fabrics arrived a few days later!

Gracias al Sofware EQ8 (mi último regalo de cumpleaños) la idea que tenía en mi cabeza, la pude dibujar de manera más fácil. Muchas veces ocupo la música como inspiración, y en esta ocasión fue la canción de The Beatles, “Lucy in the sky with diamonds” la que me llevó a diseñar este quilt.

Al sonido de “Picture yourself in a boat on a river With tangerine trees and marmalade skies”, ese cielo que imagino cuando escucho la canción, comenzó a aparecer, siendo los triángulos los protagonistas de esta historia.

Este es un quilt donde tuve que cortar bastantes telas y llevar mucho orden en cada pieza para lograr el movimiento que quería representar con los colores.

Thanks to the EQ8 software, my last birthday gift, the idea I had in my mind, I could draw it easier. Many times I use music as inspiration, and this time it was The Beatles song, “Lucy in the sky with diamonds” that led me to design this quilt.

To the sound of “Picture yourself in a boat on a river With tangerine trees and marmalade skies”, that sky that I imagine when I hear the song, began to appear, being the triangles the protagonists of this story.

This is a quilt where I had to cut enough fabrics and carry a lot of order in each piece to achieve the movement I wanted to represent with the colors.

Al momento de quiltear quise destacar los diamantes, y sólo trabajé con el pie de doble arrastre.

For the quilting I wanted to highlight the diamonds, and I only worked with the walkingfoot.

Fue un proceso maravilloso y entretenido, pero mantener el secreto no fue fácil, ya que las ganas de compartir los avances en un proyecto siempre son difíciles de combatir. Por lo que ahora feliz les muestro las fotos de “Sky with diamond”.

It was a wonderful and entertaining process, but keeping the secret was not easy, since the desire to share the progress in a project is always difficult to combat. So now I show you the photos of “Sky with diamond”.

Quise que las fotos de este proyecto fuera en un lugar rodeado de naturaleza, muy cerca de mi hogar, para que los colores de este Quilt se mezclaran con el otoño del hemisferio sur.

I wanted the photos of this project to be in a place surrounded by nature, very close to my home, so that the colors of this Quilt mixed with the autumn of the southern hemisphere.
