In October of 2019, in my country, Chile, a social and political revolution began, caused by general discontent due to the existing social and economic inequality in society. This has led me to think about what virtues are key in a society and that therefore we should develop to the maximum in each one of us, and one of them is compassion. Understanding this virtue as; “Human feeling that manifests itself from the contact and understanding of the suffering of another being. More intense than empathy, compassion is the perception and understanding in the suffering of the other, and the desire and action to alleviate, reduce or completely eliminate this painful situation ”. And this is where I ask myself … How different would our society be if we were all more compassionate?
