BEGINNING TO IMPROVISE ON DEMAND CLASS — watch at your own pace and time and as many times as you want. In this class, you will learn:
1.- To put together a complementary color palette, ideal for this project.
2.- 4 different improvisational techniques, such as cutting without rulers, building blocks, and composing.
3.- What it is to improvise.
4.- To create 4 sections with these techniques: strip improvisation, improv triangles, soft curves, and random pairs, coming together into your own quilt.
ORGANIC SHAPES ON DEMAND CLASS — watch at your own pace and time and as many times as you want. In this class, you will learn:
1.- To sew curved, organic shapes with your sewing machine, step by step. It is not appliqué.
2.- 3 variations of these shapes: one shape on top of another, one next to another, and one within another.
3.- Ideas to inspire your next creations.
BEFRIENDING COLORS ON DEMAND CLASS — watch at your own pace and time and as many times as you want. Duration: 65 minutes. In this class, you will learn:
1.- About color theory: the chromatic circle and the three variables of color.
2.- Five different color schemes to create your color palette.
3.- The roles of different colors and the importance of proportion.
4.- Four simple steps to create your color palette.
5.- Which chromatic sources are useful to start your own palette.
CURVES AND TRANSPARENCIES ON DEMAND CLASS — watch at your own pace and time and as many times as you want. Duration: 1 hour. In this class, you will learn:
1.- To design a mini quilt from scratch.
2.- About color theory and how to create a transparency effect with color and fabrics.
3.- To cut fabrics with complex shapes and join these curved shapes by machine.
4.- To quilt your quilt with the walking foot, making beautiful curves.
5.- To make an “invisible” binding, also known as facing.
Necessary materials: Sewing machine that makes a straight stitch, walking foot, quarter-inch foot, zipper foot, fabrics, thread, rotary cutter, ruler, fine point scissors, glue stick, marker pen, seam ripper, iron, paper, masking tape, fabric marker.
For quilters who are comfortable sewing on the machine and new to improv, curves and color.
