ARTIFICIAL LIGHT, 48” x 42”, 120 x 105 CM
COTTON FABRICS, COTTON BATTING, THREADS,
2018
The existence of this quilt is a consequence of having read Sherri Lynn Wood’s book “The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters.” Using one of their improvisation processes, I started cutting and joining the fabrics, where I decided to use 3 hues (green, red and white) and more than 7 values per hue . Once all the piecing and layout was done, I felt that when looking at the quilt, the effect of light and shadow was like an artificial light was illuminating the upper left corner … hence its name comes. Making this quilt was a wonderful exercise in improvisation, interaction of the color, lights and shadows”.
